Kia K5 Powertrain Options
There are four K5 trim levels. Kia goes with a 180-horsepower turbocharged 1.6-liter engine for three of the four. This is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, providing plenty of accelerating power around Fresno and beyond. Front-wheel drive is standard for this vehicle on all trims. That said, the GT-Line model is also available with an all-wheel-drive system.
For the fourth trim, the K5 GT, Kia chose a turbocharged 2.5-liter engine that generates 290 horsepower. An eight-speed dual-clutch transmission comes with it, and you are treated to steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. This model also has a sport-tuned suspension and larger brakes to really take the K5's performance to the next level.
Kia K5 Fuel Economy

Thankfully, the K5 with the standard engine and front-wheel drive is estimated to get 27 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway. The GT-Line with AWD is estimated to get 25 mpg city and 33 mpg highway. For the K5 GT, the estimates come in at a respectable 24 miles per gallon around the city and 32 miles per gallon on the highway.
